제가 아이반 아이들에게 이 동화책을 꼭 읽어주고 싶은데,... 아이가 미국학교를 다니고, 혼자 한국인이라서요- 한국 동화책을 좀 보여주고 싶고 제가 가지고 있는 영어책들은 대부분 읽었더라구요. 홍차클러분들의 도움을 좀 얻어 번역을 하고자 합니다. 제가 해보았는데(영어를 못해요 ㅠ) 너무 어색해서 좀 매끄럽게, 네이티브스타일(?)로 좀 바꾸고싶은데요... 영어가 편하신분들도 꽤 계신듯하여 용기내어 올려봅니다. 번역본을 아무리 찾아도 없네요.ㅠㅠ 도와주세요~ < 삐약이 엄마 > by 백희나 니양 nyangi 이라는 악명 높은 고양이가 있었습니다. 뚱뚱하고 먹을것을 욕심내는 성격에, 작고 약한 동물들을 괴롭히는것을 좋아했습니다. 특히나 갓 낳은 따스한 달걀은 니양이가 가장 좋아하는 간식이었습니다. 어느 봄날 아침, 니양이는 닭장 앞을 지나가고 있었습니다. 마침 암탉들은 모두 자리를 비우고 있었습니다. 그리고 탐스럽고 예쁜 달걀이 고이 놓여 있었습니다. 니양이는 “잘 먹겠습니다.” 날름 꿀꺽 — 그리고 유유히 자리를 떴습니다. 하루가 지나고, 이틀이 지나고, 가뜩이나 뚱뚱한 니양이의 배가 점점 더 부풀어 올랐습니다. “아이고, 배야!” 니양이는 갑자기 똥이 마려워 화장실로 달려갔습니다. 끄으으으으응 (도대체 이건 어떻게 번역을 ㅠㅠ) 그런데, 니양이의 뱃속에서 나온것은 똥이 아니라, 작고 노랗고 귀여운 병아리였습니다. “내가 병아리를 낳았어!” 니양이는 너무나 놀라 뒷걸음질을 쳤습니다. 갓 태어난 병아리는 어기적 어기적 다가오더니 니양이의 품속으로 파고 들었습니다. 당황한 니양이는 어찌할 바를 몰라 그대로 굳어버렸습니다. 잠시 후, 니양이는 병아리의 작고, 보드라운 머리통을 슬며시 핥아보았습니다. 그러자, 병아리는 기분 좋게 눈을 감고 “삐약…”하고 대답했습니다. 니양이는 가슴이 뭉클해졌습니다. “그래, 이제부터 너를 “삐약이”라고 불러주마.” 니양이는 항상 삐약이를 데리고 다녔습니다. 삐약이의 배가 아플까봐, 깨끗하고 맛있는 음식을 찾아 삐약이에게 먹였습니다. 자동차가 다니는 위험한 길은 다니지 않도록 삐약이에게 단단히 일러두었고, 성질이 나쁜 개 집 앞을 지날때면 등의 털을 꼿꼿이 세우고 삐약이를 보호하며 걸었습니다. 이웃들은 악명 높은 니양이라는 이름 대신 삐약이 엄마라는 이름으로 이 고양이를 부르고 기억하게 되었습니다. 니양이도 삐약이 엄마라는 이름이 마음에 쏙 들었습니다. 끝 미리 감사합니다... 0

There is a cat named as “Nyangi” who is a mean cat.
She is fat, greedy, and likes to tease other small animals. Her favorite snack is a freshly laid egg.
One sunny day in the spring, Nyangi was passing by the poultry cage. Most of the hens were out of the cage at that time.
There, an attractive and neat egg was placed.
Nyangi said, “Bon appetite” and gorged it.
And left the place leisurely.
Day by day, Nyangi’s fat belly has begun to rise up more and more.
“Oh my stomach!” , said Nyangi
Nyangi hurried up to poop in the bathroom.
“Ugh…………………………………”
“ I can’t believe that I laid a baby chick!” exclaimed Nyangi.
But, instead of poop, it came out as a tiny yellow chick.
Nyangi was so shocked flattered, that she stepped away from the creation.
The newly born chick began approaching to Nyangi and burrowing into her.
Nyangi was so panicked that she was stunned for a long time before she came back to her senses.
In a couple minutes, Nyangi licked the small soft head of the chick.
Then, the conscious, but sleepy newborn chick said, “beep”.
Nyangi’s heart was filled with warmness. “I will call you “beep” from now on, said Nyangi.
From then on, Nyangi took Beep everywhere with her. She looked for sanitary and delicious meals only for Beep, because she didn’t want to Beep to get sick.
Nyangi told Beep not to walk on the street because of the many cars passing by. Instead, Nyangi told Beep to only walk on the pedestrian walkways, to ensure Beep’s safety.
Whenever they pass by the house with the grouchy dog, Nyangi’s fur stood up as she protected Beep.
Nowadays, their neighbors remember Nyangi as “Beep’s mom” instead of the notorious and infamous Nyangi.
Nyangi loved her name as “Beep’s mom”.
